Convention Report

Dear Sisters, It was my honor to represent our alumnae chapter at the Delta Delta Delta Convention in Phoenix, Arizona this past July.
It was an immersive two-and-a-half-day experience full of boundless excitement and sisterhood, celebrating and legislating with new and old friends. I am grateful to have gained an immense knowledge about the workings of our fraternity. My best memory will be the palatable strength of the bonds amongst our fraternity’s membership and the effervescence of the women I had the pleasure to be with – from collegians to Diamond Circle initiates (three!).

We legislated on the Fraternity Bylaw Amendments that we discussed as an alumnae chapter last spring. All proposed Bylaw Amendments passed with 217 eligible voting delegates from colleges and alumnae chapters present. Significant amendments included changing the title of Executive Director to CEO in step with other Panhellenic and Fraternal organizations as well as allowing the Fraternity to seek out a qualified candidate for the position, whereas previously the Executive Director was required to be a Tri Delta member.

New Executive Board Members were installed and our very own Kristi Horner (Denison) retired from her national-level volunteer role as Leadership Development Committee (LDC) Chair. Her accomplishments were celebrated during the International Pansy Breakfast.
And of course – being the city of champions that we are in Cleveland – our alumnae chapter swept three award categories including “Alumnae Excellence in Communication” for a medium chapter size, “Alumnae Philanthropy With Purpose (other)” – for our outstanding support of The MetroHealth Systems – for a medium chapter size. And !drum roll please!  the most outstanding, singular award – the Crescent Award – distinguishing our alumnae chapter as THE top alumnae chapter overall. As the award reads, we exhibit “exceptional and rewarding experiences to (our) members while maintaining a stable or increasing membership, promoting Life Loyal membership, and offering diversity of activities and schedules. (Our) chapter reflects the commitment of lifetime membership experience and the Purpose of Tri Delta.”

For these awards we received certificates and money towards at least one free registration for the 2018 Convention in Dallas, Texas.

I would happy to chat about my favorite speakers, what I learned from other alumnae chapters and more. Details about the speakers and more can be found at www.tridelta.org.

In the Bonds,

Ali Lukacsy (Carnegie Mellon)
